Speaking following Stade Brestois’ promotion to Ligue 1 earned last night on After RMC, manager Jean-Marc Furlan explained that he has yet to make a decision as to whether or not he wants to stay with the club, despite his success and with his current deal expiring at the end of next month.
“I will be frank. At 61, for the first time in my career, I have had numerous propositions from Ligue 2 clubs, apparently, I know how Ligue 2 works. As I said to my agent, what excites me is winning matches. Having already been in Ligue 1 with clubs who had the 18th, 19th or 20th biggest budgets, it is very difficult. What excites me is to build projects and to win matches. To go to Ligue 1 yes, if you are going to give me a top 10 budget in the league, I would say yes straight away. To stay in Ligue 1 with a team that you have taken up, where your vision with your board is strong and that you are fused with them, that would pose me no problem.”
“For next year, I am going to wait until the 38th match and the 20th May, to analyse all of the offers I have received and then take a decision. The most important thing in football is the cohesion with your board like I had at Troyes with Daniel Masoni. Our hands were joined together.”
